The sports centre in Modena is dedicated to Giuseppe Panini, who passed away in October ’96.
Volleyball, and not only in Modena, owes a lot to this great man who gave 25 years of his life, from ’68 to ’93, to volleyball, with passion and sacrifices.
Built in 1985, and inaugurated by four consecutive Italian titles of the mythical Panini Modena, PalaPanini has room for 5.211 seats, divided over two floors: the playing floor has eight rectractable stands for a total of about 1.500 seats, while the upper floor has about 3.700 seats; the view is excellent from any position.

About 100 places are being reserved for journalists along the shorter sides of the field, in addition to a central stand which has an ISDN telephone and ADSL wireless connection. Above that there are two rooms available for journalists for post match interviews and writing. The VIP stand, placed in front of the first referee, is distinguishable by its blue lined chairs and it’s reserved for sponsors and VIP people. Next to this is a dining room, with a rich buffet. There is also a big and well equipped training room inside the sports centre and a control room from which the advertisment instruments are controlled, like the maxiscreens nex to the scoreboard.
PalaPanini is blessed with excellent acoustics, therefore the audience can listen to great music, chosen by our staff in the central stand, before and after the game and during the breaks. The offices of Trenkwalder Volleyball are inside Palasport (also responsabile for the sports events inside the building), and so are those of Modena Volleyball and Modena Basketball. In the outer part you can find the training rooms for table tennis, fencing, judo and martial arts. Finally, there is one wing of the sports centre that has a completely new centre of sports medicine, with specialistic instruments for medical examinations.

You can get to PalaPanini easily from the ring road in Modena, to be precise:
-from the A1 – Bologna exit Mo-Sud then turn right for about 7 km until the junction with the ring road, then turn right again. After about 1 km (after the junction with Via Emilia), take the exit at your right hand side and then go to the left in the direction of the shopping centre.
-from the A1 – Milano/ Verona exit Mo-Nord then to the right in the direction of the ring road and then the flyover to go in the direction of Bologna. After about 5 km take the exit on your right near the shopping centre.
Palapanini is adjacent to shopping centre “I Portali” and is surrounded by a huge parking lot where it’s easy to find a parking place.
