» The PalaPanini
As its name highlights, Modena’s volleyball arena is dedicated to the memory of Giuseppe Panini, who passed away in October 1996.
Volleyball, and not only volleyball in Modena, owes much to this great man, who, from 1968 to 1993 dedicated 25 years of his life to it, with passion and sacrifices.
Built in 1985, the Palapanini arena was immediately to host the four magnificent consecutive Championships of the now legendary Panini Modena. The PalaPanini can house 5.211 seated fans on two floors: 1500 in eight sectors in the ground floor, and approximately 3700 in the first level, with a great view from every seat.

One hundred seats are reserved for journalists on the short sides of the court, along with a central sector equipped with ISDN telephone lines. Moreover, two press rooms are available for interviews after the matches and for journalists to draft their articles. The Tribuna Vip, in front of the First Referee, is highlighted by blue seats, and is reserved for sponsors and accredited persons, beside which a catering room with a rich buffet is at the sponsors’ disposal. In addition to this, PalaPanini includes also a modern and well equipped gym and a directing room to control all the advertising spaces (like for instance the maxi screens at the sides of the scoreboard).

PalaPanini also possesses a great sound system, which enables the fans to listen to music during time outs and intermissions. The Cimone Volley, Modena Volleyball and Basket Modena offices are located inside the Palapanini arena, whereas in the outer perimeter their are tennis table, fencing and martial arts halls. To conclude, the brand new centre for sports medicine, which provides specialist check ups for athletes, also has its home inside the PalaPanini.

The Palapanini is easily reached from Modena’s bypass:

- from the A1 – Bologna: exit Modena Sud; turn right and follow the road for 7 km. At the crossroad with the bypass turn right. After 1 km (after via Emilia) take the exit on the right and then turn left towards the big shopping centre.

- From A1 – Milano/Verona: exit Modena Nord; turn right towards the bypass and over the bridge towards Bologna. After 5 km take the exit on the right for the shopping centre.

The PalaPanini, adjacent to the shopping centre “I Portali”, is surrounded by huge parking lots where a place is easily available.
