The audience of Modena... what a great show

16.10.2008 - SATURDAY TRENKWALDER MODENA-SISLEY TREVISO. THE FIRST TIME FOR KOOISTRA...

The week of Trenkwalder Modena-Sisley Treviso has arrived. The Derby of Italy will start on Sunday the 18th of October at 6.30 pm at Palasport Giuseppe Panini. The expectations are high for the classic Italian volleyball tournament and among the stars will be Wytze Kooistra, Trenkwalder's Dutchman of 209 cm: for him it will be the first time... that he plays against Treviso. "Everybody talks about Modena-Treviso, it's clearly a unique match, that has something extra. There will be a lot of people watching us, I've always seen it as a spectator and I really feel like playing it now - Kooistra emphasises. What kind of match do you expect? "Of course a very difficult and spectacular one. Treviso lost from Piacenza and will feel like coming back. We are in a good moment: we suffered, reacted and showed good things in the last three rounds. We want to continue getting better and play on a par against a team that aspires the final victory as Treviso does." Is this the first "big match" for you as opposite for Modena? "I think I was quite constant during the first rounds. As I said before I need time, training and matches to get perfectly used to the position of opposite. I still make a little too many errors, but when I make a mistake I immediately think of the next ball. I'm perfectly aware of the fact that Treviso is very strong in blocking: it will be even more stimulating both for me and the team to match against players of such high level." If you could take one player away from Treviso...? Perhaps I would take away Fei. He's one of the best opposites in the world and I saw he's great with Ricardinho." On which aspect of the game does Trenkwalder have to focus particularly against Treviso? "We have to play well in all aspects of the game in order to win from Treviso. Let's say we'll have to try and let the ball go hind and forth a lot to put some pressure on them and try to take advantage of our block-defence. Our strength should be that united we stand and we should help eachother at all times. And then we can add the individual qualities to that." PRESALES. The presales of next Saturday's (October 18) Trenkwalder Modena-Sisley Treviso match, that starts at 6.30 pm (live on Sky Sport) are proceeding steadily. Tickets for the match are available at all branches of the Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna and at the offices of Palasport Giuseppe Panini (25 Viale dello Sport in Modena). 15.10.2008 - MODENA VOLLEYBALL AND THE FUTURE CHAMPIONS: SECOND YEAR FOR "A SERIES YOUTH PROJECT"

Official presentation of the "A Series Youth Project" of Modena Volleyball at Palasport Giuseppe Panini this afternoon. Project manager Andrea Nannini was present, as was president of Anderlini Volleyball School Rodolfo Giovenzana, Modena Volleyball team manager Leonardo Caponi, under 20 B2 Eurotecnica Modena Volleyball trainer Claudio Benedetti and his assistant Cristiano Santini, Trenkwalder Modena trainer Andrea Giani and his assistant Andrea Tomasini and some under 20 athletes (Alessandro Bartoli, Alberto Bigarelli, Luca Bigarelli, Niki Hendriks, Ludovico Carminati and Edoardo Ciabattini). "The Youth Project represents university for our guys - Rodolfo Giovenzana emphasised - After Anderlini Volleyball School they will have to show their qualities at "university" to try and make the quality leap to the top level." "It's a project for very young people: the team is very young, we have a strong belief in our work and we invest more in it every year" - Andrea Nannini said. "One of the big novelties of this year are the guest quarters for five guys from outside Modena - Leonardo Caponi said - We put a lot of effort and attention into the youth activities. This is thanks to the Volleyball School and the Youth Project. From this year we will monitor the national and international youth activities closely: we want to use the guys from our region to advantage and also look for talented guys within and outside Italy." "It's a project I fancy and I follow it on a daily basis - Andrea Giani explained - The B2 under 20 guys are talented, I see them in the sports centre and a lot of them train with us: we need to have the courage to give them the opportunity to get better and match against the A Series." YOUTH PROJECT FOR THE A SERIES. Great champions and young promises. Modena Volleyball focuses on today and tomorrow and decided to continue investing in guys and their technique and not only that. The "Youth Project", in its second year and always managed directly by Modena Volleyball, is a fascinating growth route for the most promising athletes that train closely to the first team of Trenkwalder Modena. The Gialloblù youth section of Modena Volleyball is "built" with the Anderlini Volleyball School and the owners of Modena Volleyball continue with their attention for and investment in the "Youth Project". The Youth Project for the A Series is the connecting part between the activities of the youth sector and those of the first team. Investment, great passion and a lot of work, to consolidate the teamwork with the province even more and to give all necessary opportunities to the guys to improve. So we're talking about an intense process of shaping and education, a technical laboratory, an amplifier of enthusiasm, shoulder to shoulder with Trenkwalder Volleyball. The Youth Project aims to enhance sports talents, and first of all the guys raised at the Anderlini Volleyball School, to search new promises within and outside Italy, offering technical and personal support of an excellent level. This season the team is trained by Claudio Benedetti again and it will take part in the B2 Series and the Junior League, the championship that makes under 20 A1 Series and B2 Series players star. ANDERLINI VOLLEYBALL SCHOOL. The organisation was founded in 1985 by Rodolfo Giovenzana and Andrea Nannini. What makes this organisation different from others in the province is the double merit of activities one could call social, for the numerous boys and girls involved, but certainly combative too. Over the last years the Volleyball School won four Italian youth titles, both men's and women's. And in the 2007/2008 season a place in the finals of the U14 and U16 M is guaranteed, as is a place in the finals of the Boy League and the Junior League. This is exactly what the teamwork between the Anderlini Volleyball School and Modena Volleyball was born and evolved for. The binding part between the A Series and the youth section is represented by the excellent group of under 20 athletes who take part in the Junior League and the B2 national championship. Above that, from this season, the forces of the two organisations are also joined in the organisation of the guest quarters that host athletes from all over the country, with common interests. It's also relevant to mention the contribution of the athletes from the Trenkwalder Volleyball School regarding the Fipav selections in the province and region. Also on a national level the Gialloblù athletes distinguish themselves through their collective Summer meetings: Alessandro Bartoli from '89 and Davis Krumis from '90 (national juniors), Luca Bigarelli from '91 (national pre-juniors), Lorenzo Messori from '94 and Guido Frasoldati from '93 (Italy after 2010) Some actual facts about Anderlini Volleyball School: Pre-combative activities: Pallandia: 3-6 years 150 children Starting centres: 7-10 years 650 children in primary school Combative activities: 400 male and female athletes 10 men's teams, one for every year of age: No. 2 U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 U18 + D Series 2nd Division U20 + B2 Series Organisation International Tournaments BUSSINELLO U16 category: 46 men's teams, 52 women's teams ANDERLINI TOURNAMENT: U14 category: 12 men's and women's teams Summer activities Summer Centre Pallandia: 500 people. "Summer with us" project: -Errea volleyball camp: 6 weeks 600 people -Volleyball campus: international internship for technical perfectioning reserved for teams (Under 16 and 18 M and F) -High specialisation camp: a week of camp with numerus clausus to guarantee a professional approach towards volleyball (manager for the men's section was Andrea Giani) In the picture: The official presentation of the Youth Project for the A Series of Modena Volleyball

And today it's the beginning of the week of the Derby of Italy: Trenkwalder-Sisley Treviso will be played at Palasport Giuseppe Panini in Modena on Saturday at 6.30 pm. Simone Parodi (spiker of Marmi Lanza Verona): "This is definitely a very difficult championship, in which one should never give up. We were a bit naive in dropping in the third set and we played a bad tie break. We have to learn to believe in ourselves and continue the hard work." Andrea Giani (trainer of Trenkwalder Modena): "We did well making a comeback even if we were behind in the second and third set. We have a group that works patiently and knows how to suffer in the field. The match changed when we stopped undergoing the blocks and defence of Verona." 10.10.2008 - SUNDAY MARMI LANZA VERONA-TRENKWALDER MODENA. CAPTAIN SARTORETTI STIMULATES TEAMMATES.

"Sunday's match is very important to us: winning would mean a lot, apart from scoring valuable points, for the spirit of a new team like ours, that has to find security and stability." That's how Trenkwalder Modena's captain Andrea Sartoretti reacts, facing the tricky away match against Marmi Lanza in Verona on Sunday (October 12). "The training is going very well - continues Sartoretti, left-handed, born in 1971 and training in Modena for the fourth season in a row, and the fifth season in total - We're a team with ambition, enthusiasm and we're improving. It is only the beginning of the championship, the opponents are very strong, but we can say the promises are high. We're better at block-defence this year, I'm sure that if we improve in serving and receiving, we'll be able to get far. My position? It's a month now, that I've been training in the position of hitter. I sometimes like to attack a ball from the second line while playing, but I'm focusing on the dynamics of a spiker, it's impossible to train both the position of hitter and of opposite at the same time. Every day I gain more understanding of the position. As I've always said, I'm at the disposal of the trainer and the team, in any position and I will continue to do so with great enthusiasm for the whole season." As said before, Trenkwalder will be busy in Verona on Sunday against a very strong opponent, who has been capable of winning against two "super big ones", Treviso and Trento in the first two days: "Marmi Lanza is a young team, with a lot of energy and good technical skills. Additionally they're in great shape: we have a really difficult match ahead of us. I'm confident about our possibilities, I saw how good my teammates are, they're concentrated and willing: we'll have to show what we're worth in the field on Sunday." LIVE ON SKY SPORT 2. Marmi Lanza Verona-Trenkwalder Modena will start at 6.30 pm on Sunday the 12th of October (3rd day of A1 TIM Series) and will be broadcast live on Sky Sport 2 with previews from 6.15 pm. LIVE ON RADIO BRUNO. Marmi Lanza-Trenkwalder Modena will be broadcast live on Radio Bruno 103.8 on Sunday. It will also be possible to listen to live radio on www.radiobruno.it.
09.10.2008 - TRENKWALDER IN VERONA ON SUNDAY. MURILO TALKING...

The third weekend of the A1 Series championship is coming closer. And for Trenkwalder Modena, defeated in Montichiari and having won beautifully from Padova last Sunday, an away match is planned in Verona on Sunday the 12th of October (6.30 pm live on Sky Sport 2), against Marmi Lanza who beat Treviso and Trento in the first two days. Among the stars we will see Endres Murilo, 27 year old spiker of 194 cm who is in his third season under the Ghirlandina (tower of the dome) in Modena and had a long Summer with the Brasilian national team with which he won a silver medal at the Olympics in Bejing. How are you now? "It was a very busy Summer and I have to say I was a bit tired when I arrived last week - Murilo says - But I'm feeling much better now. Vanni (Miale, the personal trainer, ed) makes me work hard and I'm doing well. Psychologically I know the drill: it's the fifth year that I'm in the national team and I know the program by now. I'm in Modena now, as I've said before I felt like coming back here, and I'm very motivated for this Gialloblù season." What do you like about Trenkwalder? "We never gave up against Padova, we were there all the time with our spirit and our mind. This is a strong point for the championship. Technically we know that we're good at blocks and counterattacks: we know we'll have to try and make less errors this year, it's better to replay the ball another time, especially since we're good at replaying. Of course we're just at the beginning, we have to work and get better in many aspects of the game. But the spirit is there, and so is the enthusiasm and the capability of doing so." Has one of your new teammates made a particular impression on you these days? "I repeat that I like the whole group, there's a good atmosphere and this team has valuable technical skills. But I have to admit Kooistra impressed me. Wytze has a different position (he changed from central to opposite, ed) and he's adapted himself swiftly to it: he's got the body and skills to make the difference. I shouldn't put too much pressure on him though: he needs his time to work and improve." On Sunday you're going to Verona and you'll be playing against what probably is the fittest team in the championship... "It's true Verona is in great shape and it's a team I like very much. I know Sottile, Lasko and Bontje very well: we all played together in Vibo Valencia and they play well together. You can tell that Verona has been working with the entire group for over two months. It will be a pretty difficult match, but we want to win and score. We'll try and make few errors." Your girlfriend Jaqueline won the Italian Supercup with Scavolini Pesaro last night and people are talking about Jaqueline and Murilo getting married... "Of course I'm very happy for her: the season couldn't start better... About the wedding, it's true, actually Jaqueline and I have been talking about it for a couple of years now. It might seem strange, but we just can't find the time for it... We bought a house in Florianopolis and we would like to get married next June in Brasil, where we have all our family." PRESS CONFERENCE. Tomorrow, on Friday the 10th of October 2008, captain of Trenkwalder Modena Andrea Sartoretti will be talking to the press in the press room of the home of the Gialloblù, Palasport G. Panini in Modena, at 11 pm.

According to the medical staff the player can start training with the team again, following a gradual recovery program, under supervision of the technical staff.Regarding the physical situation of Trenkwalder Modena athlete Angel Dennis, yesterday's medical examinations, Tuesday the 7th of October, under the supervision of the Gialloblù medical team consisting of doctor Ennio Gallo, doctor Alessandro Cristiani and doctor Luigi Tarallo, at the Hospital-University of Modena Hospital, revealed: an improvement of the previously identified area on Dennis' right ankle. 07.10.2008 - TRENKWALDER AT THE SPORTS CLUB. TRAVICA: "CHARGED AND FOCUSED ON VERONA"

After the beautiful victory against Padova (3-0) and after a Monday of relaxation, Trenkwalder Modena came to the sports club at Palasport G. Panini today to train for the delicate away match in Verona (PalaOlimpia at 6.30 pm on Sunday live on Sky Sport). Today it's Dragan Travica, Trenkwalder setter, who played his first match as captain with a Gialloblù shirt at PalaPanini on Monday, who tells us about his feelings after Sunday's success, the Gialloblù moment and the hopes for Verona. "It was wonderful to play and win at PalaPanini - Travica, 22 years old and 200 cm tall, underlines - coming back in the first set was a strong signal. We had good quality and often quality is hard to train for: it's fundamental to have it already. We can do better technically: I'm more and more convinced this team has great possibilities for improvement." A special compliment I got? "That of my father (Ljubomir Travica, now trainer of Resovia in Poland, ed). My mother was at PalaPanini on Sunday and practically gave a live report to my father in Poland: it's very nice for a son to hear that his father is proud of him." The diagonal Travica-Kooistra? "I know people expected and expect a lot from us. We're new, we're young and we play in a place as important as Modena. For now I'm very happy about Wytze's heat: he showed how much he's worth. I think we played a good match on Sunday, but we can get better. We know we're valuable, we know we'll have difficulties and we know we have to work very hard every day." Where does Trenkwalder have to improve? "We're training a lot to get better at every aspect of the game. We can do more in blocking and serving, as many other situations. We have to play better with the centrals, but that's normal, we need time and training. We have to and want to show what we do during the training when we are playing a match. We are a "growing" team: we're building on it every day. What I like most about the group is the readiness: ready to work and help a teammate." There is the away match in Verona... "We're already talking about it in the team, we forgot about Padova and are focused on Verona. Marmi Lanza is the championship's fittest team, it's enough to remember that they won from Treviso and Trento the first two days. They're very strong in serving and it will be a very difficult match. But as I said before we're focused and charged." In the picture Dragan Travica (setter at Trenkwalder Modena)

Blocks: Trenkwalder 5, Padova 4. PALASPORT GIUSEPPE PANINI (MODENA) - First victory for Trenkwalder Modena who won 3-0 from Antonveneta Padova in front of the warm audience at Palasport Giuseppe Panini. A match with character and quality of the Gialloblù. Dutch opposite Wytze Kooistra was rewarded best player in the field. Dragan Travica (Trenkwalder Modena setter): "We're so happy with this victory. It was very important to reassemble and win the first set: we showed great character and personality. I'm convinced this team has room for technical improvement and we'll train for that every day. It was fantastic to win in front of this audience today." Bruno Bagnoli (Antonveneta Padova trainer): "We played two good sets, but we dropped in the third. There were two key events by Modena in this match: the services from Travica and Sidao and the smashing attack with a spike by Kooistra. On the other hand we have to look into our defence wall. Perhaps we payed for out little experience against an extremely motivated opponent and in front of a warm audience." In the picture Kooistra, best player of the match, rewarded by Emilio Annovi (Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna central director)
04.10.2008 - SUNDAY AT 6 PM TRENKWALDER-PADOVA. KOOISTRA: "REALLY FEELING LIKE... PALAPANINI". SUBSCRIPTIONS EXCEEDED 2070

Trenkwalder Modena will play its second day of the A1 Series Championship against Antonveneta Padova on Sunday at Palasport Giuseppe Panini in Modena (starting at 6 pm). The expectations for an important match and a Gialloblú party are getting higher and higher. After the defeat in Montichiari the whole Modenese group feels like getting onto the field again and will try to make a comeback after the knock out of last Monday. And these have been very intense training days, also with the return of Murilo and Lee. "We looked at the match at Montichiari again and analysed it. We saw that, especially in the first two sets, we didn't take advantage of all the opportunities we had created: this gave us confidence, because we know that we can improve and we know what to do - Wytze Kooistra, Dutch opposite of 209 cm at his first Gialloblú season, emphasises - We have done wonderful trainings this week and we played very well on Thursday during the friendly match with Noliko (3-0, ed): the team is focused and confident about its capacities and we should win from Padova. My position? - (Kooistra moved from central to opposite this year, ed) - My idea is that I need to play an awful lot in the position of opposite to understand it and the situations in the game as well. I need to test the situations in the match, the options and the attacking solutions many times. I can see I improved from this Summer until now, I see myself getting better every day, but as said previously I need time, training and matches. I'm very much looking forward to playing at PalaPanini with the Modenese shirt on Sunday - Kooistra emphasises - I'm not sure what to expect exactly, I played here as an opponent and I've always seen a nice environment and many fans. I would like it if there were many people: it's an important match and together we want to win."
